Storm Boy literally just dropped their single “From Your Mouth…” and I am beyond excited to share it with you. This song comes as part of their new EP ‘With a Gasp that Reached to the Sky’. Although I haven’t had time to check out this full EP yet, after hearing this single, I know what the rest of my day is going to be filled with.
“From Your Mouth…” is actually a super deep song inspired by a close friend of the vocalist of this band and their battle with dementia. Honestly, you wouldn’t know that this song went so deep unless you really hone in on the vocals. Stylistically, this track is super anthemic and full of life. It is situated in the punk vein of things but also has this more alt-rock vibe to it at times which makes it feel super refreshing, angsty, and calming all at the same time. I love the fact that this song clearly means so much to this band yet can also come off as one of those easy-listening kind of songs. This is far from a commercial feeling song yet the chorus here is so ridiculously catchy that it will get stuck in your head just as much as any top-40 pop jam. As the band put it, “Let yourself get rowdy, allow yourself to get wild, go ahead and get free, and let’s do it all together with Storm Boy!”. That’s the perfect mentality to have when walking into this song so brace yourself and hit play!
