Happy freaking Tuesday. I’m not sure why but it feels like it should be at least Thursday at this point. Sure, it’s nice and warm outside but, after a trip to IKEA last night and the realization that my house is changing drastically with the addition of two kids, another cat, and the boyfriend, I just feel like this week is flying by as I try to get things back to something at least a bit familiar. I need things to slow down and I need to get lost in a world that is not my own head for a bit today so let’s go ahead and start checking out new music early starting with “Into the River” from Down in Motion.
“Into The River” doesn’t have the same angst and aggression behind it that I typically look for when it comes to early morning music but it’s such a lovely track and I adore it too much to not share it out with you. It also fits with my current metal state. “Into the River” lyrics talk about plunging head first into a relationship knowing that it could go south fast. It’s a scary and terrifying feeling especially if you’re someone with commitment issues but it’s also exhilarating. I love how this song portrays something a bit more genuine about an authentic connection between two people rather than the more romanticized portrayal that pop songs give it. Even if you can’t relate to the lyrics of this song as perfectly as I can right now, the boppiness and fresh take on a pop-punk leaning pop song that Down in Motion showcases in this track is perfect and it will surely get your day started off on the right foot!
