My day has gone from bad to worse. I don’t know what switch flipped or what I did to deserve such a crappy Wednesday but here I am– sitting at my desk and just counting down the seconds until I’m done at my day job so I can go home and lay down before my show tonight. It’s frustrating because I had such a great start to the day and have so much more to get done but sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. I’m hoping checking out another new song may shake me out of it so here’s to hoping “Serenade” from Aeganova doesn’t suck.
“Serenade” definitely doesn’t suck. In fact, it’s a brilliant track. This song is about ending a toxic relationship but it’s told from two different perspectives. This is a brilliantly written track because of this. There’s a tug and pull throughout the song between a person who feels that they weren’t appreciated in a relationship and a person feeling that the relationship was nothing but drama and fights. I won’t give it all away but I love that these two themes dance together throughout this song. It’s clear which side is which but, again, I really think you should just hear this one for yourself. On top of all of this, Aeganova has a flawless sound that bridges the gap between early 2000s emo and a more anthemic rock vibe. All in all, “Serenade” is a perfect track and may have done just the trick to change my mindset for the rest of the day.
