Girl at the Rock Shows

Obviously I was drawn to this single due to the name of the band. If you don’t know me in real life, I’m a snark kind of lady. I don’t hide the snark and I’m not sorry about that so to have the band name Your Face Offends Me come across my desk, I was instantly intrigued.

Outside of the quirky name, “Drown”, the new single from Your Face Offends Me is a jam. It’s an instant alt-rock classic kind of track that comes with a huge helping angst. I don’t have any information about this band or this song in particular but “Drown” is one of those songs that speaks for itself. It’s powerful and a bit abrasive at face value but, as you dig into the track, you realize the depth that this band has put into not only the lyrics, but also the instrumentation. Instead of starting off slow and steady and ending in a triumphant conclusion, “Drown” starts off with pure power before drifting into a slight ambiance at the end. It’s a cool twist on a fairly standard sound that, like the band name, had me hooked.
