I can feel my day quickly slipping away. I’m getting a lot done, don’t get me wrong, but now the realization that it’s already noon and I still have so much to do is setting in. I need to re-set my brain so I don’t slip into a feeling of despair and defeat. The best way I know how to do that is to check out a new song so let’s take a listen to “Handshakes for Everyone” from Eyes Over Hollywood!

“Handshakes for Everyone” is the lead single off of Eyes Over Hollywood’s newest EP. The side project of former Victory Records band Beneath the Sky (shout out to all of my time spent spilling over everything Victory), this song is just as powerful as I remember Beneath the Sky being but with a modern twist. Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely a sense of early 2000s emo-pop-punk nostalgia here but it’s the power that each note comes with that really had me hooked. You get a little My Chemical Romance theatrics and drama throughout this song, the catchiness of old school Fall Out Boy, a slight intensity in the vein of Killswitch Engage, and even a bit of commercial accessibility that feels a bit like Imagine Dragons. None of those band names should be used in the same sentence but that’s honestly the best way I can describe “Handshakes for Everyone” from Eyes Over Hollywood.
