Today feels like a Monday. I took a half day yesterday to go and get stabbed a million times within about six hours. My arm is killing me and my head is throbbing but the giant new tattoo on my arm that pays tribute to my two cats that I had to put down earlier this month is beyond stunning and makes this pain so worth it. That being said, I need to get back on track with work for the week and I need a distraction from the pain which means you should probably brace yourself for a lot of new music from me starting with “Taste My Tears” from Victory Point.
“Taste My Tears” is a battle song but not in the normal sense. It’s a battle behind “tender vulnerability and focused determination”. Those are the band’s words, not mine but I feel like I couldn’t say it any better. The rises and falls throughout this three minute song are intense and convey a true sense of emotion. Stylistically, this song dabbles between alt-punk and an almost more indie-pop bounce at times. This all comes together to create a song that will truly hook you and leave you wanting more from this California-based act instantly. I loved the feeling of triumphant energy that this song gave me. It is truly the best way to kick off your day whether it’s feeling like a Tuesday or more like a Monday-esque Tuesday.
