I know that the title of this song isn’t super optimistic for a Monday morning but it’s hitting the spot this morning. I’m determined to not let this week get the best of me like last week did and Free Friends is definitely setting me up for success with “The Little Engine That Couldn’t.”
This song speaks to my soul in more ways that one. Not only is it an homade to Brand New’s “Failure By Design” which, regardless of your thoughts on that band, is a stellar and iconic track, it’s a song about the honest struggles of being an artist or creative-type. From the lyrics to the overall style of “The Little Engine That Couldn’t,” Free Friends made me feel like I was surrounded by friends through every second of this track. It’s anthemic and powerful, but there’s a sensitivity to this song that makes it absolutely irresistible. Whether you want to feel supported or just ned a jolt of some classic pop-punk vibes, Free Friends is the band for you this morning.
