Girl at the Rock Shows

I don’t know where the time is going today but I would like some of it back, please. I’m not sure how it’s already 1 PM but here we are and I have barely even put a dent into my workload for the day but I won’t let it get me down. I can only do what I can do and I’m not going to stress out about it and, instead, take a breather and check out a new song before I plunge back into endless emails.

I don’t know anything about Annual Killers so I don’t know what their sound was like before this single but I know that this “new direction” that they claim to be headed in with this song is absolutely the way to go. “IS 12:00 THE NEW 420?” is a perfectly crafted, Midwest-emo track full of raw emotion and subtle power. Not familiar with Midwest-emo, don’t worry about it, only the cool kids really know what it is, and Annual Killers are clearly leading the pack. The song sounds a bit like Mom Jeans and Title Fight, but there’s this odd lo-fi ambiance that I was picking up throughout this nearly four-minute song that sets this song (and Annual Killers in general) apart from the oversaturated scene. Hang on until the end of this track for an epic plot twist that adds a little razzle-dazzle to this already stunning track.
