Deadweight. has been on a roll with me as far as every song hitting the spot. Their new song, “20/20” is no exception. If you missed me telling you about “Caffeine” or “Seafoam,” I highly suggest you finally listen to me and check out this third single from Deadweight.

I’ve used the phrase “pop-punk-perfection” or “pop-punk-perfect” in both of my previous reviews of Deadweight. and I am going to go ahead and use it again here. Although I’m using it again here, this particular song comes with a bit more darkness behind it. There’s a heaviness and depth throughout this nearly four-minute-long song that is so beautiful but also so treacherous to fall into. It’s a song about heartbreak of all kinds, and even if you’re having a heartbreak-free kind of day, this song will take you back to moments of your life when everything was the worst and you thought there was no getting back to normal. Okay, I know I’m not really selling this to you right now, but this is just such a beautiful song, and there’s something about going back to those moments in your mind while relying on this song and the passion of Deadweights to be that shoulder that you needed that is beyond cathartic in a way that I didn’t know I needed to feel today. There’s depth and beauty, sorrow and optimism all wrapped up in this one song making it an absolute stunner that is more than worth your attention today.
