It has been a hot minute since I shared “Roots” from Carry the 9, but this is a band that hasn’t left my head since. Their sound on that song was just perfect and had me hooked, so I am super excited to introduce you to yet another song from this amazing band – “Empty Walls.”
“Empty Walls” is from Carry the 9’s EP, ‘A Loner, A Rebel’, and, in true Carry the 9 fashion, it hits hard and moves fast. A very skate punk feeling song with a clear Fat Wreck Chords influence behind it, this song may be four minutes but those four minutes move fast due to the driving beat that never slows down. Honestly, four minutes is a long time for a song of this style, but the composition that Carry the 9 has put into this track keeps it feeling fresh, and that four minutes will be over far too soon when it’s all said and done. It has energy, it has teeth, but most importantly, it has heart. Although served with a slightly sharpened tongue, the vocals throughout this song are relatable and hit straight to the heart. What is the song about? Come on now, I’m not going to tell you that. Just take a listen for yourself.
