Girl at the Rock Shows

I feel like calling a song “My Jam” is kind of bold. I mean, who is Cali Three to say that their new song will be “My Jam”? That’s where my head was when I pushed play on this track but I quickly realized that Cali Three can be as bold as they want because, within the first few seconds, I knew that this song was absolutely “My [new] Jam.”

The first thing that caught me about this four-minute-long song was the groove that comes with it. It’s definitely an intense song, but not when it comes to speed or anything like that– it’s more in the attitude. This song is definitely a Rage Against the Machine feeling song, but Cali Three has put their own spin on it. It’s fresh and original with elements scattered throughout the track that will surely catch your attention. The video that comes with this song is simple enough. It shows the three members of this group recording the song from different angles. The constantly shifting camera shots give the song a slight sense of chaos at times, but I like it because you can see how well these three musicians not only play together, butalso play their own instruments. There’s clearly talent in this band ,and clearly an energy that begs to be seen live. I know this footage in the video is just from a studio, but the energy that comes through is insane, and it has me just praying for a chance to catch Cali Three live. While I wait for that moment, I guess I will just have to listen to “My Jam” on repeat.
