There’s something whimsical about “Perpendicular” from Curves that is just hitting all of the right spots this morning. The song starts off slow and calm before getting into the meat of the track and then fading off at the end again. The builds and falls throughout this song are absolutely epic and really give it an almost fairytale like feeling but with a certain amount of angst.

The vocals throughout this track are a bit rough which typically wouldn’t go over well with me but I loved how it just added to the whimsy of this track. The guitar work seems to be much clearer than the vocals but the way the two blend together with the almost subtle drums behind it all really works in a miraculous way. There’s almost a Modern Baseball/ The Front Bottoms vibe to the track but there’s something just ever so slightly more indie about the overall composition which reminded me more of bands like Car Seat Headrest. What I’m trying to say is that Curves has a distinct sound that is a perfect blend of so many awesome things.

“Perpendicular” is from an album that will be coming out soon and you better believe that I will be jumping on that album the day it comes out.
