Girl at the Rock Shows

I was hooked by the pitch that I got with “Ends Meet” from Phantom Bay. It said, “ENDS MEET is about working on your own projects and ideas, even when no one but you appreciates and understands them. It’s about realizing that you will only be satisfied once you pursue your own ideas. At the same time, the song captures all the frustration that comes with feeling unaccomplished, overlooked and not good enough.” To say that all of this fits my current mind frame would be an understatement so let’s dig into the track and see if I find a sense of solace in it.

As the first drums hits and chord took over my speakers, I felt a weight lift off of me like magic. Even before the words came in, I felt a deep connection to this track. The shouted-styled vocals just deepened that connection. As the pitch had suggested, this song captured the frustration that had been plaguing me all morning while giving me a sort of outlet to get it all out. With a vibe similar to Touché Amoré but an energy that felt a bit more hardcore based, I felt better and better as this three minute song played through and, when left in silence after the track, it was as if I was a whole new person. The emotion and power capture by Phantom Bay in “Ends Meet” is absolutely deafening so, if you are struggling to get through the day or just life in general, turn this song on and let it blare. I promise you will find a sense of relief and solace in this song that you didn’t think you would ever feel.
