Starting a band during the pandemic was probably the hardest but smartest thing some people did. I feel like it allowed musicians and bands to really take time and get creative with their music because there were no distractions. A great example of this is the band Daphne from Seattle, Washington. Don’t believe me? Just check out their brand new single “Hard To Hold”.
“Hard To Hold” is a catchy little song but it’s also a rollercoaster of a song. The vocals alone go from calm and chill to aggressive and harsh within a single line of words which instantly caught my attention. Beyond that is the strong guitars and the slamming drums. There’s a slight nod to pop-punk greats from the early 2000s but there’s also a nod to more standard rock bands throughout this song giving it a super cool blend of all things amazing. It’s energetic but, with the words, it also makes you think and gives you three minutes to just get lost in your head which, on a busy Friday, was just what I needed. If you’re having an up and down kind of day, this is your track because it will give you a sense of peace and acknowledgement to those ups and downs while giving you a sense of energy to help you carry on with your day.
