Girl at the Rock Shows

I try to stay away from overly commercial feeling songs. It’s not that I don’t like them but more that I know they are going to get attention from other outlets so I try to save my time for those acts that I feel will not get the attention they deserve. That being said, sometimes a commercial feeling song will hit me so perfectly that I just can’t resist sharing it out to you all and that’s exactly what happened when I heard “Living in a Lie” from Nothing But A Nightmare (or NBN for short).

NBN is an alt-rock band formed by a group of high school friends and you can feel that as you listen to “Living in a Lie”. There’s such a cohesive energy behind this track that it’s clear that this group of people work perfectly together hence the perfect sound. Stylistically, “Living in a Lie” instantly reminded me of Panic at the Disco but a bit more poppy. It has that theatrical vibe that PATD really capitalized on but NBN takes it in a different direction. “Living in a Lie” has an absolutely infectious beat and “oh’s” and “ah’s” formatted in a way that will instantly get stuck in your head. Even if you’re a metal head or a person who only listens to punk, I urge you to give this song a listen. Even if you only listen to it once, I promise that it will put a smile on your face and a pep in your step.
