Happy Sunday! I hope you are all having a great weekend. I took last night off from shows to spend some time with my dad and stepmom who were in town for the night. Although I know I missed some amazing shows, it was nice to have some family time. That being said, it’s time to get back to it and catch up on some amazing music starting with “Bored To Death” from FRIEND.
FRIEND is a self-proclaimed “goblin punk” three piece band from Philadelphia. Although I’m not quite sure what “goblin punk” means, I am sure that I love this song and, in turn, this band. “Bored To Death” dangles between laid back and chaotic all at the same time which is super cool and unique. The chorus of this track has a perfectly imperfect garage-rock recording style to it which both adds an undeniable sense of grit and DIY styling to this track. Overall, the song is full of energy, heartfelt yet tongue-in-cheek lyrics, and heart. Add the DIY styled music video and you are left with a unpolished yet perfect track to kick your Sunday off with.
