Happy Thanksgiving Eve! I know it’s only Wednesday but it’s the last day at my day job for the week and I’m ready for it to be done. I’m already plotting my early exit because any motivation to get work done was gone the second I sat down at my desk. Instead of working, I figure I’ll spend the majority of the day checking out some new music that I can use to soundtrack cooking tomorrow morning so let’s just jump right into it.
“Missing All” from No Waves is an angsty and anthemic track that hits you like a ton of bricks. This is a hard track to categorize when it comes to genre because it’s a but all over the place but the band has called their sound “Nu-Punk” which, honestly makes the most sense. There’s a retro fuzz behind this track but something punky and modern as well hence the “Nu-Punk” description. Although I did like this unique sound, it was the lyrics and delivery of said lyrics that really caught me. The words seem to slur in a way yet don’t feel lazy like that statement may lead you to believe. They are dynamic without being theatrical which definitely helps convey the story behind them. What is that story? You know me, I’m not going to give that away so just spend a couple of minutes and check out “Missing All” from No Waves.
