For Fans Of: The Golden Age of Pop-Punk

I’ve come to terms with the fact that I will never be fully caught up on work. It’s taken me nearly twenty years but I feel like this week is the first week where my mentality has changed from something negative to something a bit more positive. I’m only one person and can only get as much done as I can in one week. I’ve decided to stop stressing about trying to get everything done because that would be impossible and, instead, am celebrating all of the things I have gotten done. I’ve already gotten a lot done today so I feel like that calls for a little celebration in the form of checking out a new track.

“Dying Inside (Without You)” is absolutely a celebratory type of song. It is also a pop-punk-perfect track so brace yourself. This song is quick at just under two and a half minutes long but it packs a punch. Flawless and anthemic pop-punk vibes reign supreme throughout this track. NLM definitely pays homage to the golden years of the pop-punk scene but they also add a bit of a twist to the style. I felt that the lyrics throughout this track just had a slight sense of grit behind them giving the song a sense of slight heaviness while staying firmly placed in that pop-punk-perfect vein of things.

I listened to this entire track a couple of times before actually looking into anything about NLM so I was beyond shocked to see that this group is a hometown band from right here in Minneapolis. I’m not sure how this band has flown under my radar but I see them now and I can’t wait for the opportunity to experience this bop and other jams from NLM live.
