Happy Monday everyone! For better or for worse, we have made it to another week. I’m definitely still recovering from the weekend but ready to take on this week and whatever it has in store. The reason I’m feeling so peppy even considering the lack of sleep I got last night? “All My Relations :: Mitakuye Oyasin” from Town Destroyer.
The message behind this track is deep. It’s a song to honor the Indigenous American community and was written to bring awareness to the Missing and Murdured Indigenous Women (MMIW) movement. Like I said, deep and oh so very important. You feel that importance and the passion for this movement throughout this three minute track so easily. It’s aggressive and in your face as it should be for the message. Even with that intensity, there’s something beautiful hidden in this track. That beauty comes from the power that each word comes drenched in. The composition of this track is just as beautiful as that power. Although it’s chaotic and definitely intense, there is a moment about halfway through this is purely beautiful and gives you a second to reflect on not only this song, but the message.
