Not sure where the afternoon went but I’ll take it. I’m almost out of my day job and then, after a quick work call, I’m off the hook for the night and can take my time with some work stuff rather than rushing through it. This calls for a celebration and “Grace” from Mike & The Nerve is a perfect soundtrack to said celebration.

Although the subject of this song is a bit dark, “Grace” is nothing short of an infectious bop. This song is about losing your way but finding redemption in something– anything and I love that sense of redemption and the triumphant energy that that storyline brings to this song. Mike & The Nerve have a super distinct style about them on top of that. There are nod so an almost folk punk song but, overall, I feel like pop-punk tendencies take this song over. At the same, there’s almost a Jeff Rosenstock-esque DIY approach to some of the vocal delivery in this song which just adds yet another magnificent layer to an already stellar track. At four minutes long, this is a bit longer than your average punk song but I love how Mike & The Nerve didn’t set a single second in this song go wasted and, at the same time, didn’t just fill this track with a bunch of filler. Everything about “Grace” is perfect and, regardless of how your day is going, it will have you feeling revived and ready to take on whatever tonight brings.
