FFO: Classic Pop-Punk Vibes; Hints of early 2000s alt-rock; Infectious and catchy music

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a good start. In case it started off a little rocky, I’m here today to share some amazing new music with you to change that around. Let’s kick off today with the little jam that is “Bitter Pill” from Showoff.

I don’t know what Showoff has been doing the past six years but they are back with “Bitter Pill” and it is absolutely perfect. Stylistically, this is definitely situated in the pop-punk vein of things but it’s so much more than just a pop-punk song. There are nods to a sound of years gone by which makes sense since this band has been around since 1997. You can feel a bit of that early 2000s alt-rock influence throughout this track. You also get an ear-wormy worthy and infectious chorus with this song. “Bitter Pill” is the first of six songs that Showoff plans to release this year as they ramp up for an EP release and if this song is any indication of what’s to come with this band yet this year, well, I’m excited. Another thing that excites me is that Showoff is based in Chicago. Does this mean a Minneapolis visit is in the future? I honestly don’t know but all of my fingers and toes are crossed!
