My musical taste has been all over the place today which is why “perfect blue” from shira is hitting me so perfectly right now.
Although this could be called just an alt-rock song, I feel like that description doesn’t do this song or band justice. “perfect blue” has a bit of everything in it from an alt-rock base to the nods to everything from blues to post-hardcore. It’s a chaotic song if you think about it just with the stark changes in mood and styles yet shira pulls it off so perfectly and has found ways to blend everything together into a cohesive sound. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is but I love the way this song seems to lay-out a days worth of emotion in just a quick two and a half minutes. Whether you lean into the more sensitive and sung portions of this track or feel like the shouted and more aggressive moments are fitting a bit better, “perfect blue” will hit you and shira’s sound and name will surely stick with you.
