Girl at the Rock Shows

Having members in different countries and making music together is something I still can’t quite wrap my head around. I mean, obviously I know this can be done online but I’ve just never understood how a band can record and create this music while keeping a sense of heart and passion in the tracks. I always seem to put such a sense of weight on band member connections and live performances that when I see a band only makes music online, I typically turn the other way. That’s not the case when it comes to “Send It” from Ex-Debonair and, after falling in love with this track, I feel like I will have to completely change my mind frame on this whole thing.

The guitars and vocals in “Send It” were recorded in Ireland and the bass and rums were recorded and mixed in Beirut, Lebanon. These two locations are worlds apart. About a 57 hour car drive that includes ferry rides, tolls, and different time zones. Even with all of the distance between these two locations, “Send It” is a track that feels perfectly put together and, had I not known about the split of location when it comes to this band, I would have sworn that Ex-Debonair is just another band that went into the studio all together to make this track. My fear of bands in this situation not being able to put a sense of passion or heart behind their tracks was instantly put to rest within the first few second of “Send It”. Sure, this song lacks that metal or punk angst that I typically look for but this is a catchy little number that proves music is a shared passion and regardless of how many miles may separate people, music will bring us all together at the end of the day.
