Girl at the Rock Shows

It was the kind of morning where I hit snooze one too many times, a cat peed in my slippers, came downstairs to realize I forgot to run the dishwasher the night before, and found cat puke all over my couch. Yeah, my day has gotten off to a rough start and it’s definitely got me feeling stressed and a bit panicked and manic but I can’t give in. I need a breather to recenter myself so let’s take this time to kick the day off with a new song and see if it turns my Wednesday around.

“The Apostle Paul” is the first release of 2024 for Notre Noise and it instantly had me hooked. This song is a bit avant-garde, bizarre, and a little just straight-up weird but it instantly took my mind off of the crap morning I have had. There’s an odd almost broken down county fair feel to some of the instrumentation in this song but, beyond that, there’s really nothing I can compare the sound of Notre Noise to. As the name suggests, there is an aspect of noise here but I wouldn’t call this group a noise band. There’s also beautiful piano work, an almost post-punk feel, and a sense of theatrics throughout this song. I don’t know how to describe this song or this band but I am hooked and am already wanting to drop everything else and just go down the Notre Noise rabbit hole.
