It snowed all day yesterday. It was snowing as I walked into work this morning and now it’s downpouring rain. The weather has been weird to say the least so it seems only fitting that we check out “Fairweather Season” from Slow Drag.
Although this song has nothing to do with weather, “Fairweather Season” hit perfectly as soon as I let it take over my office. Slow Drag has this cool blend of emo and pop-punk but there’s this slight edge to it that almost nudges their sound into a post-hardcore vein of things. This intensity comes through in both the instrumentation and the words so perfectly as does the infectious energy of the chorus in this song. In true emo-nostalgia form, this song feel upbeat and bouncy but, when you dig into the depth of the lyrics, you realize this is a super tender and touching track. Long story short, “Fairweather Season” deserves your attention today and Slow Drag deserves some love on their socials.
