Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I’m feeling a refreshed after taking a much needed night off on Tuesday night. It feels great but also a little bit weird to not be dealing with my normal level of pure exhaustion. Because of this, I’m in the mood for upbeat music that makes you want to dance while also making me feel a bit nostalgic. You get both of those things with “Myspace” from Eurotripp x ATHRS.

The first line of this song instantly had me hooked. “Take me back to Myspace…” I mean, I don’t really think the world would be a better place if Myspace still existed but I do miss that social media platform more than most. It curated a world of music for me and gave me a way to connect with bands of all kinds. Really, Myspace could be the main reason I am the way I am today. Although that’s not the only point of this track, it was definitely what hooked me. Beyond the reminiscing about the world’s best social media platform ever (and that is not up for debate), this song is a pure bop. It’s catchy and infectious but with a slight sense of teenage angst. If this song doesn’t transport you back to your childhood bedroom that inevitably had cutouts from AP magazine taped (or stapled in my case– sorry dad) to your wall and puts a smile on your face when thinking back to that time, then I truly don’t know if we can be friends.
