Music is meant to make you feel something. Whether it’s sadness, joy, anger, rage– whatever– as long as it makes you feel something, it’s music. I feel like this is something that is often to forgotten so when I saw the a statement from LEACH attached to their new single “Slice Of Life” saying that they hoped this track would empower people, I wanted to see if it worked and made me feel a sense of empowerment.

Not only does “Slice Of Life” make me feel empowered, it gave me an outlet for some of the pent up aggression inside of me while also giving me a sense of comfort. One of my favorite intricacies of this band is the almost hardcore influence that you get from the vocals right away. Words are barked at you with such a sense of intensity that it reminded me a bit of bands like Evergreen Terrace and even a little bit of Terror but there’s a clear more metal-leaning influence in the instrumentation. This blend leads to a sound that instantly caught me. The power that comes with that blend definitely gave me that sense of empowerment that the band laid out to provide with “Slice of Life” along with a lot more. This song may be steady and without a lot of contrast within the track itself but it’s a great listen that will surely get your blood pumping if that’s what you need right now.
