Multiple people have told me multiple times that I am a “STRANGE WOMAN.” Sometimes the comment is meant to be an endearing one. At other times, it’s because people genuinely find me strange. Either way, I wear the classification as a badge of honor, so naturally, I was instantly drawn to this debut single from someone going under the name “STRANGE WOMAN.”
“FAKE VALENTINE” is the debut single from Scottish rockers STRANGE WOMAN. As soon as this song starts, you are hit with an undeniable sense of bluesy swagger before the song moves into an anthemic punk-leaning war cry of sorts. The vocals throughout this song are beautifully vicious, and the energy that comes with them matches. The overall bluesy-ness of the instrumentation brings the twist to the song and makes it irresistible in more ways than one. Part of this song reminds me of Yungblud, and there is some of the chorus that had me thinking back to bands like Måneskin and YONAKA, but, overall, the only way to describe the sound of “FAKE VALENTINE” is to say it’s genuinely STRANGE WOMAN, and that’s all you really need to know.
