Sometimes you just need a good ol’ fashioned punk song to get you going on a weekday. Thank goodness for “Ideology” from The Overrides for giving me just that this morning. This song is fast and punky but also has a sense of depth to it that some punk songs just don’t seem to have these days. I love that this song has elements of a little bit of everything from skate punk to hardcore which is why I am dubbing it just a good ol’ fashioned punk song.
The Overrides are from Long Beach, CA which comes through in their music. You can just hear that SoCal sound throughout this quick three minute song. It’s not overly in your face but absolutely does pack a punch and gets the blood pumping. It’s the kind of song that makes you feel like you’re in a divey bar with the smell of stale beer and sweat enveloping your senses in such a perfect way. I know that this isn’t a description that will be for everyone but, for me, it hit just right on this sleepy Wedesday morning.
The Overrides have been grinding ever since they took a short break a couple of years ago and, although I think we can expect a lot from this band in the future, I highly suggest you check them out now!
