I’m feeling a bit frantic today. There’s just so much to do and not enough time but thankfully, JoJo Longbottom’s song “Embers” just hit my computer and it brought me a sense of calm and energy that I needed so bad.
The rises and falls throughout this track are dramatic yet seem to work perfectly with this song. It starts off slow and steady and an almost acoustic singer-songwriter vibe to it before everything ramps up into a perfect blend of pop-punk and indie rock. This song definitely leans a bit more indie-pop than pop-punk but I feel like the hints of pop-punk magic throughout this nearly four-and-a-half minute long song are what really hooked me and made this song stand out. It’s anthemic and powerful but that indie pop vibe keeps this from getting too aggressive or in your face. Although this song is a bit lengthier than I tend to have the attention span for (thanks ADD), the movements throughout this song make it one of those cliff hanger type songs where you truly don’t know what is going to come next.
