Happy Monday, everyone! Although it’s still cold up here, the sun is shining and I am in my “get shit done” type of mood which has everything feeling good right now. Another thing that has everything feeling good is “Get Away” from Roommates.
There’s something amazing about kicking your week off with a little pop-punk perfection and that’s exactly what you get from this amazing track from West Midlands, UK based Roommates. There’s definitely a nostalgia factor in this song if you dig for it but it also has a very modern twist to it. I could see this song fitting well on a playlist of everything from MGK to Four Year Strong. The blend of new and old throughout this song is amazing and the catchy riffs mixed with the hooky vocals make this an easy listen. Although this song is definitely polished and perfectly rendered, there’s something raw about the overall composition that I fell in love with instantly. It not only make you feel the emotion of this song but also brings a sense of rawness to this band. Although it may be awhile before Roommates makes a trip over to Minnesota for a tour date, I can’t help but imagine crowds going wild at certain parts throughout this song.
