It’s kind of a bold move to call yourself “The Allstar Lineup” but, after listening to “Underdressed and Overserved” from this California band, it makes sense and seems more just like common sense than a bold move. Sidenote– it’s time for your daily dose of pop-punk perfection to buckle up, people!
Seriously though, “Underdressed and Overserved” is absolutely dripping in early 2000s pop punk nostalgia in a perfect way. From the vocals to the lyrics, everything about this song had me reliving my angsty teenage years in an unreal way. Typically, now is when I would talk about how there are modern twists to a song keeping the song from feeling redone or anything but that’s not the case here. This song stays perfectly situated in the nostalgic bubble it kicks off in and that was okay with me. Although it does feel a bit “standard”, this song is done super well and shows a sense of restraint and perfection that are clearly calling cards of TASL. I’ll be honest, being the pop-punk princess I am, this song just hit the spot and if pop-punk wasn’t your thing, this song won’t be for you. Don’t even waste your time, honestly but I know enough of my readers are nostalgia seekers like myself and I promise, if that’s you, this is going to be your anthem for the day.
