I’m not sure where time is going but it’s somehow already mid-afternoon and I am nowhere near where I wanted to be for the day. That’s okay though because I have some amazing new music to keep my energy and spirit levels high including “Blades on the Night Stand” from Light Atomic. Okay, maybe this isn’t a “new” song as it came out last month but it’s new to me which means it’s surely new to some of you!
This track is Light Atomic’s second single which is from their upcoming EP. Upon my first listen, I knew that I wanted to hear the entire EP right the heck now but that’s not an option as it’s not out yet. Vocally, this song has a little bit of a Goldfinger style to it. There’s an almost California accent (which, yes, is a real thing) to the lyrics the the style feels a bit shouted at times but not aggressive. Musically, this track is full of arena-ready power chords that seem to echo throughout the song. The amount of power that comes from the instrumentation throughout this track is amazing but what’s more amazing is how it doesn’t overpower the vocals or anything like that. Somehow, Light Atomic has found a perfect balance that makes sure you can hear all of the elements of this upbeat pop-punk track while also making sure it hits you like a punch to the gut. Bravo, Light Atomic, Bravo.
