I got nothing witty for you. It’s still a great day and I’m still getting loads done but I just don’t have a witty intro for “Limerence” from Holy Hour. That being said, this is one of those songs that can speak for itself so why waste my words.
I like how this track eases you into Holy Hour’s world. It has a slow and quiet intro lasting about 40 seconds before you really get to hear the lush depth of the band’s style. There’s an ambient haze that reigns supreme throughout this track but there’s also this very distinct surf punk styled vibe in front of it. These layers come together to create a sound that is just as confusing as it is perfect. There’s an old-soul behind this song with clear nods to bands like My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth but there’s also something fresh about Holy Hour’s take on these influential acts. Long story short, it’s hard to put “Limerence” or even Holy Hour’s sound into words but it’s absolutely worth your time to check out.
