Further Within covered Danny Elfman’s “This Is Halloween” this year. I know I’m late to sharing this but, if you’re like me, it’s always spooky season and Halloween music and decor is used year round. If you’re not like me, this cover is so great that you should absolutely keep it in your back pocket for Halloween 2024!
We all know (at least I hope we all do) “This Is Halloween” from the epic 1993 ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ film. What Further Within has done with the iconic track is truly amazing. They kept the intro the same– dark and eerie but quickly add their spin to the track with an added sense of intensity and, well, metal. I love how, throughout this cover, you get elements from the original track scattered here and there instead of Further Within just taking the song over completely and making it nearly irrecognizable. Don’t get me wrong, this cover is definitely far from the original but, again, the creativity that Further Within puts into this track is tasteful and perfect. If you’ve always liked this song but just wish there was something a bit more intense, metal, and chaotic about it, Further Within’s cover is for you!
