Girl at the Rock Shows

Just last month, I found myself at a Last Dinosaurs show. I had never heard of the band before but instantly fell in love with them as they played through a dynamic and fun set at the First Avenue Mainroom. (In case you missed that review, you can check it out HERE!) I feel like, since that show, I have been seeing their name everywhere. Case in point– their single “Walking On Ice” hit my desk a couple of days ago and, much like the show, it was love at first listen.

“Walking On Ice” is equal parts energy and beauty. It’s a classic indie-pop jam but there’s something a bit deeper about this track when compared to other songs that would fit into that box. Lush vocals are joined by fairly simplistic yet dreamy instrumentation creating the perfect soundtrack for essentially anything and everything. Although this song commands your attention throughout the length of it, there’s also something about it that will make you just chill out and breathe which is something we could all use a little bit more of. This song isn’t intense or aggressive like many of the other singles I share with you but that doesn’t mean that this song will leave you bored. It will leave you feeling full of life and with an infectious beat stuck in your head.
