It’s somehow already almost lunch time. That’s both a good and bad thing. It’s good because it means I’m one step closer to my shows tonight that I am uber excited for. It’s bad because it means that my time to get crap done is slipping away but my to-do list keeps growing. Naturally, it only makes sense to take a break from that to-do list and check out another new song to try and keep my motivation and energy up and thankfully, “Faces” from The Vaniers did just the trick.
“Faces” is a protest song and it’s perfect. Lyrically, this song is about standing up to everything and everyone and just being true to yourself. This is a message and I preach on a daily basis and try to get other people to stay true to so hearing it in a song was perfect. Add the anthemic power here and you are left with the kind of song that will make you want to raise your fist, stomp your foot, and get your blood pumping. Stylistically, there’s something just ever so slightly retro about this song but there’s also a clear punk edge. Throughout this song, I was able to find moments that reminded me of bands like Anti-Flag but others that had a more Jet (remember them?!) vibe to them. Like I said, this song is straight protest power and I promise it will be a perfect fit for your Monday!
