One of the first lines I saw when I was sent “Refuse the Rules” from pink suits was, “Having shared stages with the likes of Bob Vylan…” Stop. Stop right there. You have my attention. Bob Vylan was my number set of the year last year and is a name that I can’t get out of my head. Bob Vylan has become a go to for me when I don’t know what to listen to and it’s a live performance that I dream of experiencing again every time I go to bed (okay, that’s a little dramatic but trying to prove a point here). The fact that pink suits had shared the stage with a band that affected me so hard said the world to me and I excitedly pressed play.

A queer Feminist punk rock & rage duo from the UK, pink suits has a feeling of angst and attitude that drenches every word throughout this all-too-quick song. At just a minute and a half long, pink suits don’t have much time to hook you but, I promise, they will have their claws in you within the first twenty seconds of this track and, by the end of it, you will be stuck in their world with a smile on your face and no way out. The attitude in this track is truly the thing that had me sold instantly. You feel that anger and the protest in each beat in such an impactful way. “Refuse the Rules” is going to be on their upcoming second album so make sure to follow pink suits on all of their socials so you don’t miss any announcements about the gold that that record will surely be.
