Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Wednesday! I may or may not have stayed out a bit too late last night and may or may not have had one too many drinks but I made it to work on time and am doing my best to keep on top of things and be productive even though it’s deader than dead for my day job. I know that an epic crash for me is just around the corner so I need a song to help keep that at bay and HALYCON’s track “Burn My Spirit” is doing the trick.

The build in this track is absolutely epic. It may be nearly four minutes long which, with my current state of exhaustion and a slight hangover, feels super long but that build keeps you engaged throughout the song. Beyond that is the beautiful layering that happens throughout “Burn My Spirit”. It’s a sensitive track full of love and heart but it also comes with this almost lush atmosphere behind it that is so easy to get lost in. Think a wee bit of Manchester Orchestra with a hint of Foxing and even Brand New thrown in there and you can get close to the energy and vibe of HALCYON but it’s truly one of those sounds that you just have to hear for yourself. Something magical happens towards the end of this track. There’s so much angst and energy at the end that you almost forget about that epic build that kicked the track off. This made me want to go back and listen to this track again, and again, and again, and again, and again…. okay, you get it. “Burn My Spirit” will hook you in a mysterious and powerful way so brace yourself and enjoy!
