I’m not sure what I’m in the mood to listen to but I know I want something fast, dirty, and intense. That’s exactly what you get from “Whiskey Business” by The Vaxxines.
This is just one of those classic punk songs that hits you fast and hits you hard. The Vaxxines have a very west coast punk vibe to them which makes sense since they are from Oakland, California. Although I get a very DIY and almost dirty vibe here, there’s something so flawless about the production of the track. It’s perfect but not too perfect as to lose the punk heart that lies behind this track. There are moments that are frantic juxtaposed by those moments of perfect gang vocals that make you want to join in even if it’s your first time hearing the track. Think a little bit of a Tsunami Bomb meets The Distillers with the vocal style but a bit more Adolescents when it comes to everything else in the track. What I’m trying to say is that if you like good ol’ fashioned punk music, you’ll love “Whiskey Business” and The Vaxxines in general.
