Girl at the Rock Shows

The purpose of this blog is to shine light on all of the amazing bands that are out there and aren’t getting the attention they deserve. I struggled when it came to deciding if I should share out We The Kings’ new single “The Best Part” only because this is a massive band from my past. Then I realized. Although I may be super familiar with We The Kings, there may be some of you who didn’t grow up in the early 2000s emo and pop-punk scene and have never heard of these guys before. Whether you know them or not, “The Best Part” from We The Kings deserves attention and I want to give it to them.

We The Kings have been, well, kings of the pop-punk scene since their start in 2007. Their hit song “Check Yes Juliet” is an anthem for a whole generation and I honestly thought they would never top that. Then I heard “The Best Part”. In true We The Kings style, this song is an anthemic pop-punk jam with a lean into the more emo vibe of the early 2000s. A heartfelt track full of passion and fire, I instantly fell into a world of nostalgia as this song took me over but also found a sense of appreciation for the fact that this band has truly evolved into something amazing over the years. Sure, I latched onto the nostalgia felt in this song but there’s something fresh about the sound in “The Best Part” too. Although We The Kings has been around for literal decades, I think “The Best Part” is yet to come from this band and I can’t wait to hear more new tracks from them.
