“Manic” from Night Hums came out 17 days ago. I heard it for the first time 16 days ago. I haven’t stopped humming along to it in my head randomly since that fateful first listen. This song is a bit bipolar when you really dig into it. From pop punk and emo tendencies to a cool almost hip-hop inspired beat and really cool background vibe that kicks the song off before it reaches its full potential, I felt like the way this track started off really caught me and made me stop everything and pay attention.
Those elements I just mentioned weave throughout this track making it feel exciting, dynamic, and very twisty-turny in a perfect way. Although, at its core, this is just a super well done pop-punk anthem, there’s so much more to be noticed and heard throughout the song. Lyrically, this track is adaptable to many situations and I feel like it can hit right to the core regardless of what you’re going through on any given day. It can give you a moment to look back and into yourself or give you a moment to get up and move around a bit to get over that afternoon slump. Regardless of how you use this song, I’m sure it’s going to be one of those songs you keep in your back pocket for when you’re needing something refreshing.
