To say that the plants in my house are sad would be an understatement. Honestly, I woke up and couldn’t find my sole surviving airplant. I’m assuming the kitten got it and hid it but that’s neither here nor there. I was drawn to “N.A.T.S” because of the band name but stayed for the amazing sound!
Like many of the other tracks I’ve been drawn to lately, “N.A.T.S.” is pop-punk perfection but with an edge. Instead of almost juvenile feeling vocals, this song features a vocal styling that has just a bit more aggression in it when compared to other singles I have been sharing out lately. That being said, this song is not an aggressive or brash track. It’s still upbeat, anthemic, and infectious but I just really liked the way the vocals leaned more to the punk side of things. There are clear nods to Blink 182 and other greats from days gone by but Sad Plant definitely has a sound a vibe all their own.
I know the joke is Minnesota may as well be Canada but, the fact is, it’s not but like a few of the other bands I’ve gotten addicted to lately, Sad Plant hails from Canada. Maybe they have no clue what year it is up there or maybe there’s something in the water, regardless, I am loving this wave of classic pop-punk bands coming from the north!
