I know that Valentine’s day was just over a week ago but “Love Is Bullshit” from Brooklane featuring Jessie Page isn’t just a Valentine’s day song.
Although the lyrics of this track don’t hit me the way it used to do back in my angsty teenage years, I love this song so much. It’s nostalgia overload in all of the right ways. With the acoustic guitar yet endless amounts of energy and angst, this song just screams early 2000s in all of the right ways. At the same time, there’s a more current twist to this track that reminds me of bands like Neck Deep and State Champs’ newer tracks. What I’m trying to say is that if you’re in the mood for something nostalgic or something new, “Love Is Bullshit” will absolutely hit the spot with it’s addicting anthemic vibe.
I’ve been a fan of Brooklane for some time now but it’s really Jessie Paege that makes this song a stand-out. The way her voice takes over the track after about a minute and a half is absolutely stunning and the way it blends in towards the end as you get a fuller sound from Brooklane with Jessie Paege is goosebump inducing.
