There’s something painfully real about the lyrics in Milke St.’s “Just Lust” single but also something infectiously catchy about the overall track. Obviously, this made it an instant favorite of mine.
With an emo sound that comes complete with imperfectly perfect vocals and instrumentation, this song is absolutely drenched in emotion. There are moments where things sound a little bit out of tune throughout this song and I struggle to say if it’s an artistic choice or just straight-up mistakes, regardless, I like the rawness that these little blips bring to the song. Although I do think this song is most easily classified as emo-alt-rock, there’s something different about it. The closest comparison I could mak would be Cex but I feel like that is such an obscure reference which is the point. This band does have a blend of sound and style that is all their own. “Just Lust” is the first single that Milk St. has released since their debut album but they are already hard at work on another EP. Don’t mind me as I spend the rest of the day digging to that debut album while anxious awaiting the new EP.
