Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m not sure why I never got into the anime side of things. It just has never been my thing but, after hearing “Anime Theme” by moshimoshi, I may have to rethink that.

So maybe this song has nothing to do with anime at all but that’s kind of the charm of it. It drew me in with the song name and then hit me right in the gut with the power that comes from this track. With shouted vocals and frantic yet clear guitar parts, everything about this song is intricate in a beautiful way but there’s never a moment in this three minute song that seems muddied or like there’s too much going on. This is a super delicate balance that I see many acts try to make but fail yet somehow moshimoshi does it so flawlessly. The energy in this song is as deafening as the vocals and has a perfect blend of everything from post-hardcore to emo to even a little nod to math-rock in some of the instrumentation.

moshimoshi is from Helsinki, Finland so I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever get a chance to see them live but, after hearing this song, I can’t help but hope there comes a day where they cross the pond and come over here. “Anime Theme” screams to be performed and experienced live through and through.
