Girl at the Rock Shows

I feel like grunge is such an underused genre when it comes to genre-defying bands. It’s just one of those styles that I feel like blends so well with so many other styles but most bands seem to ignore it. Not Indications. The grunge influence in “our lungs” is strong but it’s so much more than just a grungy anthem.

This song has elements of post-hardcore blende into the grunge undertones which creates a super unique feeling. At times I feel like the vocals lean almost into a alt-rock style which just adds to the confusion and brilliance of this song. Instead of being fast and chaotic, “our lungs” has a very steady and intentional beat that gives you a chance to really take it all in as each beat passes in a beautiful way. Much like the great grunge bands of the 90s, this song is beyond emotive and it takes you over instantly. There is a lot of movement and many rises and falls throughout the nearly four-minute song creating some twists and turns that are surprising but fit together so perfectly. The ending of “our lungs” takes a wild turn and turns into a sound that I wasn’t quite expecting but I’m not going to ruin it for you.
