I’m feeling angsty today. I’m also feeling like I am going to conquer the world and get a lot done but, even with that, I’m just feeling like a ball of emotion and I need some music to match that energy. Thankfully, that’s exactly what Damager’s song “8 Bus Fiasco” does.
Right off the bat, I was drawn into this song by the heart-on-your-sleeve styled vocals and story-telling styled words. With a little Jeff Rosenstock style but a more vintage take on the sound, Damager has a super relatable energy in this song. “8 Bus Fiasco” evokes both a feeling of angst and power at the same time making it a perfect fit for my Sunday morning. With rises and falls and then an epic guitar solo right around the 1:30 mark, this song is absolutely a rollercoaster but all of the pieces fit together perfectly as to not shock you into a ride that you don’t want to be on. The catchiness of this song can not be understated and said catchiness is enhanced by the gang vocals that seem to go right to your gut. Overall, this song is everything that I needed this morning. It’s a protest song of sorts with an undeniable sense of heart and angst.
