Like a couple of other songs that I’ve checked out recently, I don’t understand a word of the pitch that I got attached to “Indestructible” from Refugio but, within the first few notes of this song, I realized I didn’t need to.
There’s a beautiful intro to this song that pulls you in. It’s a bit whimsical and almost playful but, after fifteen seconds, Refugio hits you with a bit of guitar and then, within the blink of an eye, the entire band jumps in and takes “Indestructible” off. Although there are still beautiful moments scattered throughout this song, the overall vibe is heavy, aggressive and perfect. The contrast between the clean and screamed vocals is stark yet somehow the two sounds and styles play off of each other perfectly. That juxtaposition is mirrored throughout the instrumentation which makes this a super dynamic song. Why didn’t I understand the pitch I got with “Indestructible”? Well, like the lyrics throughout this four-and-a-half minute song, they were all in Spanish so, like the pitch, I couldn’t understand a word being said in this song but I didn’t have to. The amount of power and emotion that comes through this recording was more than enough to have me sold on Refugio.
