It’s only 8:30 AM but I can already tell I’m feeling restless when it comes to what to listen to today. Thus far, I have gone through an IDLES binge, a quick stint of Hotel Books, and have most recently been going down the Modest Mouse rabbit hole. Yeah, it’s going to be a weird day but, at this rate, it’s sure to be exciting for you as you get the go through this random journey with me starting with my newest obsession, Gelatine.

Gelatine’s song “Should’ve Gone Home” came out five months ago but it has a very retro vibe to it. This powerful and anthemic track reminds me of bands like The Strokes and The Hives but there’s also something a bit more modern and post-punk about some of the vocals. That blend of retro, power, and modern creates a sound that I think can only be described as Gelatine. Complete with an epic bass solo, surf-rock guitar parts, and vocals that, at times, bridge into the grunge scene, this song, like my current taste in music, is all over the place which made it a perfect fit for my Tuesday morning. This song is best played at a loud volume so don’t hold back. Wake up the entire house with this genius piece of work and enjoy!
